首先,我要感謝所有參與星期六和星期日在pine centre mall籌款活動的義工(Sarah Goodrick, Cynthia Hong, Ming C Lu, Karry Chow, Rose Lui, Sherman Nipp, Yantl Wagar, Hongping Tan, Teck Fu, LeeLin Fu, Susie and James Thien, Don Mao, Lisa Wang, Johnny Wong )。

Red Cross Donation Totals For China Earthquake and Myanmar Cyclone

Post Translated in Simplified Chinese

Post translated in Traditional Chinese

First of all, I’d like to thank all the wonderful volunteers ( Sarah Goodrick, Cynthia Hong, Ming C Lu, Karry Chow, Rose Lui, Sherman Nipp, Yantl Wagar, Hongping Tan, Teck Fu, LeeLin Fu, Susie and James Thien, Don Mao, Lisa Wang, Johnny Wong ) who manned the donation booth at Pine Centre Mall for Saturday and Sunday. We were required to have it manned during the mall hours from 9:30am to 6:00pm on both Saturday and even Sunday so it was crucial that we have enough volunteers to cover for the mall hours. Without your support and help, this would not have been possible!

A BIG THANKS to Gee Duck Tong, Jumbo Restaurant, Hart Wheel Inn, Chow’s China Kitchen and China Sail for their strong support.

China Sail was instrumental in helping us out in collecting donations at their restaurant! Wow! We got a lot of donations from their patrons and I have to thank them for the huge support!

Thanks also to Mo Mo (Shi Ge) Yu for her help on Monday afterschool. Please forgive me if I omitted anyone. There were so many people involved that I may have missed mentioning someone.

I am so overwhelmed by the response of everyone who helped out, even at such a short notice. This is one of the best examples of how wonderful our Chinese community can come together for a common cause. I am sorry to have to turn away some volunteers.

In total, we have donated $5,768.95 plus $200 RMB towards the China Earthquake and $477.71 for the Myanmar Cyclone for the Canadian Red Cross. Wow! Thanks!

The Canadian Red Cross tells me that the tax receipts will be mailed out as soon as possible and you should receive them in the mail sometime next week. If you did not receive your receipt, please let me know and I will check for you.

Canadian Red Cross

It’s still not too late to donate if you have not done so. All individual donations will be matched by the Canadian government and tax receipts can be issued for donations of $10 or more. Deadline for government matching is June 6th. You can donate online at www.redcross.ca or at the Canadian Red Cross office at 1399 Sixth Ave (link to Google maps).

Again, I thank you all for your overwhelming support!

Trauma Relief Video for China’s Earthquake Victims

Post Translated in Simplified Chinese

Post translated in Traditional Chinese

We’ve recently received an email from Dr. Franzi Ng with a link to a website that shows a video in both English and Mandarin that demonstrates how feelings of trauma can be eliminated by tapping certain acupuncture points in a particular sequence. Please check it out! Thanks to Dr. Franzi Ng for passing on this very helpful information!

Greetings,

Do you know someone who is directly affected by the recent earth quakes in China?
Do you know someone who is traumatized and upset about these recent events?

If so, please forward them the link below. It shows a 10 minute video in English and Mandarin of how anyone can easily eliminate feelings of trauma and overwhelm by tapping certain acupuncture points in a particular sequence. This method is called Thought Field Therapy and has been used very successfully across the world to help victims of trauma. This video was done at home by a TFT practitioner over a three day period without a production budget. In other words, it’s a simple video, but will do the trick.

Please forward this link to all your Mandarin (and English) speaking contacts so we can help them deal with any overwhelming negative emotions. Thank you.

With warm regards,
Franzi Ng

P.S. For more information about Thought Field Therapy, go to www.DrNg.net or www.TFTRx.com.

PGCBA calendar

Post Translated in Simplified Chinese

Post translated in Traditional Chinese

Here’s a link to the Prince George Chinese Benevolent Association 中華會館 events and activities calendar where many of the CBA related activities will be posted. If you sign up for Google calendar, you can be reminded of the events via email, text messages (SMS), or a Windows pop up at the time you’ve specified ahead of the event. I personally find this an excellent free service that has helped me stay organized and reminded of appointments, etc.

PG CBA calendar

You can also subscribe to the RSS feed for the calendar:

PGCBA Calendar RSS FeedPGCBA Calendar RSS Feed
PGCBA calendar RSS feed

For those who are not familiar with what RSS or XML or newsfeeds are, they are a short descriptive form of a web page that is a normally used by many people and sites. What you need to know is that if you use a program that can read RSS/XML feeds that you can easily be notified when there are new updates to those websites you are interested in. By subscribing to news feeds, you can be automatically be informed when there’s new updates available, so that you don’t have to visit the websites when there’s nothing new. The news or updates will come to you, rather having you go and find it.

In the case of the PGCBA calendar RSS feed, whenever I’ve added a new calendar entry (eg. CBA Picnic) in the PGCBA Calendar and you are subscribed to it, you will be one of the first people to be informed (if you read and open your RSS reader of course). I personally use it for many ways (ie. news, emails, etc).

A simple way is to open up a web based RSS/newsfeed reader. You can check out Bloglines, Google Reader, Newsgator and many others. Then, subscribe to the feed (either the PGCBA website’s feed, or the PGCBA Calendar feed, or both)

Please consider signing up for Google’s email services which will also provide you with Google Calendar, Google Docs and many other helpful utilities and services they offer.
